How to choose cables?

(4) According to safety requirements, flame-retardant cables, low-smoke halogen-free cables, and fire-resistant cables can be selected.
2. Selection of Wire and Cable Specifications
(1) When determining the specifications (conductor cross-sectional area) for wires and cables, factors such as heating, voltage drop, economic current density, and mechanical strength should be taken into account.
(2) Since low-voltage power lines carry relatively high load currents, the cross-sectional area is typically selected first based on heating conditions, followed by checks for voltage drop and mechanical strength.
(3) Since low-voltage lighting circuits require high voltage levels, you can first select the conductor size based on the allowable voltage drop criteria, and then verify compliance with heating conditions and mechanical strength requirements.
(4) For high-voltage lines, first select the cross-section based on the economic current density, and then verify both its heating conditions and permissible voltage drop.
Cables typically consist of multiple sets—or groups—of conductors (with each set containing at least two wires), forming a rope-like structure. Each set of conductors is individually insulated and usually twisted around a central core. The entire cable is then encased in a highly insulating outer sheath. Most of these cables are installed either overhead, underground, or underwater, serving applications such as telecommunications or power transmission.
Although there are many factors to consider when choosing cables, one thing should never be overlooked: the quality of wires and cables. The quality of electrical wires and cables directly affects the proper functioning of circuits. Secondly, it’s important to assess whether the manufacturer’s brand enjoys stronger public recognition, as well as to examine feedback and word-of-mouth reviews from other consumer customers—this will help determine if the brand truly offers a competitive edge. With an increasing number of established brands entering the market today, each comes with its own unique characteristics, often leaving consumers feeling torn and confused when making their choices. If they aim to meet higher usage standards, it becomes essential to thoroughly evaluate the reputation and feedback across different brands.
